The Victoria Foundation has a long and valued history of helping, supporting and investing in our region. With our close connections to the non-profit sector, we provide insightful, effective grant distributions to improve the quality of life in our community.
Granting Areas
What inspires us is the opportunity to make a difference in virtually every aspect of community life. Grant priorities are based on the insights acquired through working with hundreds of charitable organizations and researching the annual community report card called Victoria’s Vital Signs. Improving resources for child care, affordable housing and homelessness are the priorities set by the Board of Directors for the Vital Victoria Fund.
We grant in five key areas where we believe we can have the greatest impact:
- Arts, Culture and Heritage
- Community Services
- Education
- Environment
- Health and Recreation
Fund holders at The Victoria Foundation make gifts to registered charities throughout Canada. We also manage provincial scholarship and adoptions funds. (See The Irving K. Barber B.C. Scholarship Society, the Youth Education Assistance Fund, and The Lex Reynolds Adoptions and Permanency Fund). For our discretionary grant programs, we accept applications from charitable organizations primarily in the Victoria Capital Regional District.
