Establishing a charitable fund with the Victoria Foundation is easy. Charitable funds are designed for individuals, families or organizations who want to enhance and support their community and other federally registered charities in Canada. As a donor, you will have access to many charitable giving resources, including the Foundation’s knowledgeable staff for timely, personal advice and assistance about charitable giving.

Working with the Foundation staff, and your professional advisor if you choose, simply follow these steps:

Define your Philanthropic Objectives and Goals

• What are your values? How can you support them?

1. Do you wish to involve the next generation of your family?
2. Would you like your fund to benefit several charitable organizations?
3. Or will you focus on a specific philanthropic interest?
   (i.e. scholarship, arts, environment)

Choose from the following different types of funds:

• The Victoria Fund (Unrestricted)
• Designated Fund
• Field-of-interest
• Donor Advised Fund
• Hosted Organization Endowment Fund
• Pass Through Fund
• Building a Family Fund over time
• Victoria Foundation Administration Fund
• Trust Funds

Determine the amount to give and when

• Create a fund during your life
• Create a fund through your will
• Determine the intervals you would like to contribute

Donors to the Victoria Foundation have numerous options for structuring their gifts, from outright contributions to planned giving vehicles, each of which meet different needs and may offer tax advantages.

4. Gifts of Life Insurance
5. Gifts of Other Property

Name the Fund

1. Funds can be named for you (the donor) or your family
2. Memorialize someone special. Every grant from the fund carries its name
3. Choose anonymity. Select a name reflecting your charitable purposes

Sign your Fund Agreement

• Our staff will help you to complete a document that makes your intentions clear.
• Once you complete and sign your fund agreement, the Victoria Foundation will strive to help you meet your charitable goals, while assuring your philanthropic wishes are met in perpetuity. You will receive regular fund statements to assist you in tracking your fund and the grants made from it.
