Victoria Foundation Grants

The Victoria Foundation has a long and valued history of investment in Greater Victoria and the Southern Gulf Island communities. More recently, the Foundation has partnered in select cases to expand the reach of its programs and resources across Vancouver Island and throughout the province of British Columbia.  The Foundation envisions an effective and imaginative grant program that links available resources to charities that work to preserve and improve the vitality of those communities.

Granting Areas

Victoria’s Vital Signs® report has identified trends and unique challenges affecting the Greater Victoria region. As a result, the Victoria Foundation has structured its granting to respond to community input on issues identified in the report. Our grants are given in the following five fields of interest:

•    Arts, Culture & Heritage
•    Education & Literacy
•    Environment
•    Health & Recreation
•    Community Service

Recent Granting

Thanks to the foresight and generosity of donors, the Victoria Foundation provided over $8.6 million in grants from endowment and provincial funds to over 244 charities in 2008. In 2009, we provided $9.2 million to 305 organizations and distributed the IKB scholarships to 325 students. See our annual report highlights.
