Scholarships in 2011

In 2011, the Society will make available a total of approximately $1,000,000 in scholarship funds as follows:


Transfer

Through the Ike Barber Transfer Scholarship program, awards of $5,000 each are available to students who choose to transfer from a public college to another public post-secondary institution in BC to complete their degree.

The application deadline for 2011 has now passed.  


Aboriginal

The BC Aboriginal Student Award program provides awards of $1,000 - $3,500 to Aboriginal people pursuing post-secondary education that is at least nine weeks in length.

The application deadline for 2011 has now passed. 


International

To support the international exchange of knowledge and culture, the Irving K. Barber British Columbia Scholarship Society, in partnership with the Victoria Foundation, hosts four scholarship funds designed to support students studying internationally.  They are:

  1. Premier’s One World Scholarship for BC students studying internationally for at least one academic year. Up to 20 Premier's Scholarships are available in 2011.  Application Deadline: The application deadline for 2011 has now passed. 
     
  2. One World Scholarship for BC students who want to participate in an international study/work program of three weeks to one academic year in length. One World Scholarships are available in 2011.  Application deadline varries by post-secondary institution.
     
  3. Pacific Horizons Scholarship for BC students to study in a short-term international cultural or language learning studies program. Pacific Horizons Scholarships are available in 2011.  Application deadline varries by post-secondary institution.
