Community Grants
The 2011 granting announcements are complete for 2011. Congratulations to all successful candidates.
Application priorities and deadlines will be posted on our website in the spring of 2012 after a review by the Community Engagement Committee.
Grant seekers can review our other sources of funding section for ideas about alternate potential supporters for your project.
Due to our charter, most of our discretionary granting is to charitable organizations located in and to benefit the citizens of the Greater Victoria Capital Regional District and southern Gulf Islands. There are several exceptions however, as noted below and in the linked guidelines.
To apply for Community Grants for 2012 projects, we've prepared four helpful steps to guide you through the process to a better application.
1. Please read over the current Guidelines for Community Grants for an overview on who can apply and what types of grants we fund.
2. Take and pass the Eligibility Quiz . Compare your project idea to the criteria that our granting committee uses to rate the dozens of grant applications we receive as step three of the process.
3. Click here to see a sample of a well written grant application.
4. Call the Director of Community Initiatives and Grants after going through the above steps, after March 1, 2012 to discuss your project idea at 250.381.5532.
Exceptions:
1. Goodwill Enterprises Perpetual Trust grants are open to charitable organizations across Vancouver Island and Powell River that aim to assist adults with developmental disabilities with their education and employment.
2. Lex Reynolds Adoption and Permanency grants are open to non profit organizations across the province.
The Lex Reynolds Trust has completed all of its granting programs for the current year. Applications for 2012 Mini Grants will be available in March of 2012. Applications for 2012 Full and Research Grants will be available in July of 2012.
